In early 2022, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism launched the "Digitalization and Intelligence Program for Destinations and the Tourism Sector," supported by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR), with the main goal of boosting the digitalization of the tourism sector.

This initiative includes the "last mile" aid program for the development of innovative projects based on technology aimed at SMEs, micro-SMEs, and associative entities

At TycheTools, we have participated as partners, in collaboration with other entities, in developing a digital marketing and communication strategy for ZAS! Jobs pioneers in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for managing selection processes.

We want to share here a bit more about the development of this project.

Modernizing (and digitalizing) the tourism sector

The tourism sector is one of the pillars of our country's economy. According to the Spanish government, during the month of August Spain received 10.1 million international tourists. Undoubtedly, the sector has good figures, but often management, both of destinations and companies, remains very manual

The PRTR is a roadmap that proposes improvements in certain areas based on analyses conducted by various organizations.  The European Union proposes, in this regard, a plan with four cross-cutting axes, among which is digital transformation. Specifically, it develops a "Plan for the modernization and competitiveness of the tourism sector" aimed at modernizing and digitalizing this sector and its companies.

Sounds good, but… How do you modernize a sector like tourism?

ZAS! Jobs, digitalizing selection processes

ZAS! Jobs is a company specialized in human resources that has developed an intelligent matching system based on AI. This tool connects companies and candidates according to their needs and skills, streamlining the selection processes in SMEs and micro-SMEs. Such companies usually do not have a human resources department to manage the search for personnel, and most of the time, it is the owners or managers who must take care of the entire process themselves.

If we look at the tourism sector, many of its companies find themselves in this situation when they need to fill a vacancy. The job search in the sector remains quite traditional, with hand-delivered resumes and a lot of word-of-mouth.

The application developed by ZAS! Jobs aims to help SMEs and micro-enterprises in the sector streamline and digitalize their selection processes. With registered users, its intelligent matching system performs an initial filtering of applicants, allowing companies to save time in that initial stage and, additionally, have a pool of digital talent.

Through a QR code, companies can publish their offerings quickly; the entire process is done through the application and can be managed on mobile devices, from anywhere.

How does TycheTools collaborate?

TycheTools collaborates on the work packages related to Artificial Intelligence for capturing data from job seekers and job offers and also in the dynamic improvement of the selection and recommendation system.

  • Properly segment the text of CVs to subsequently extract information using natural language processing techniques.

  • Process the information from CVs and cover letters using NLP and different deep neural network models, comparing the results of different options and converting it into structured information that the recommendation system can use.

  • Define an evaluation strategy for the recommendation system and its robustness.

  • Design and develop a demonstrator prototype of a recommendation system that handles multiple evaluation and selection algorithms. Initially, a trust and reputation system is proposed to manage the active algorithms at any given moment. Extract information about candidates' soft skills from resumes, which is information that usually does not appear explicitly but can be inferred from CV data, their presentation, etc.

  • Complement this information with other data sources (EPA survey, LinkedIn candidate, etc.) that help interpret the information provided by job seekers.
